Over 90 Years of Steelmaking Heritage
Drive the Metro Bus, visit Shaukat Khanum, or stand at the foot of Minar-e-Pakistan, and you are relying on AFCO steel. You’d have no reason to know it. That’s the nature of the work. Reinforcement is the part of a building nobody sees and everything depends on. We’ve been making it since 1935 — three generations, one family, one standard.

The only ASTM A706 Grade 80 in Pakistan.
Pakistan lies in an active seismic zone, where reinforcing steel must deliver strength, controlled ductility, and predictable behaviour under earthquake loading. A706 Grade 80 is the grade that seismic design actually calls for — and AFCO is the first and only producer of it in the country.
Elongation values shown are ASTM requirements. AFCO Grade 80 significantly exceeds these elongation standards under certified mill test performance.
Higher Strength. Higher Ductility. Controlled Seismic Performance.
Explore Grade 80We don't buy our steel. We make it.
AFCO is an integrated producer, not a re-roller. Raw material to finished bar happens under one roof, on one site, under one standard — 250,000 tonnes of annual melting and rolling capacity.

Melting
Four modern furnaces melt our own steel. A Spectromaxx spectrometer reads composition instantly during the melt, so chemistry is corrected while the metal is still liquid.

Billet casting
We cast our own billets. The steel entering the rolling line is steel we made ourselves — never bought in from a third party.

Automated rolling
An automated, digitised rolling line delivers tight geometry and a consistent rib pattern, repeatable heat after heat.

Cooling & finishing
Controlled cooling across the bed, then cutting, testing, and continuous dimensional checks — every bar traceable to the heat it came from.
Integration isn’t a boast — it’s the control system. A re-roller inherits whatever chemistry arrives on the truck. Because AFCO melts its own steel and casts its own billets, nothing is outsourced and there is no gap in the chain where control gets handed to someone else.
How we control qualityMeasured, not assumed.
Engineers and consultants don't buy adjectives — they buy process and traceability. Five control points sit between our raw material and your site, and every one of them produces a number someone can check.

Spectrometric chemical analysis
A Spectromaxx spectrometer reads chemical composition instantly — during the melt and after it. Chemistry gets corrected while the steel is still liquid, not discovered once it's a bar.
Tensile testing
A latest-generation computerised Universal Testing Machine pulls samples for yield strength, ultimate strength, and elongation.
Bend testing
Bars are bend-tested to confirm the steel deforms without cracking — the property that decides how a structure behaves when it has to flex rather than break.
Heat traceability
Every bar traces back to the heat it was melted in. If you need to know where a bar came from and how it performed, there is an answer.
Continuous dimensional checks
Rib geometry, spacing, and diameter are checked continuously through the roll — not sampled once at the end of a shift.
Mill test certificates are available with your order on request.
Ninety years, standing in plain sight.
Thousands of projects since 1935 — monuments, power plants, hospitals, bridges, campuses, and transit lines across Pakistan. The proof of a reinforcement bar isn't a brochure. It's what's still standing decades later.

Minar-e-Pakistan
Pakistan’s national monument, raised between 1960 and 1968 — a quarter of a century into AFCO’s history, and still the clearest answer to what our steel was built to do. Sixty years on, it hasn’t moved.
Engineering-Grade Rebar for Every Structural Need
Grade 40, 60, and 80. Each engineered for its purpose and held to a single uncompromising standard. Quality-control, internationally tested, and trusted across generations.
